Alex Murillo

Director of NGO Partnerships, Proteus

Alex is the Director of NGO Partnerships for myProteus. In her role she leads Proteus’ CSR program focused creating the opportunity to improve change capability for nonprofits to help them better deliver their missions.

Prior to this joining Proteus she led NGO partnerships for NetHope, a consortium of 60 leading global nonprofits focused on collaboration, capacity building and technology. In this role she oversaw membership programs across seven Working Groups and the Global Chapters in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and North America working with CIOs and Regional IT leads from NetHope’s member organizations

Alex’s career began in local and state politics in California which ultimately led her to work on numerous political campaigns, including Al Gore’s 2000 Presidential campaign. She has spent nearly 20 years working in the nonprofit sector, holding numerous roles Mystic Seaport Museum, Office of Federal Policy at New York University, and as at teaching instructor of U.S. and Latin American Politics at the University of Connecticut.

She earned her B.A. in International Relations from the University of California Davis and her Master of Public Administration from New York University. Alex served on the Board of the San Diego Maritime Museum, Coronado School Foundation and is dedicated to supporting refugee resettlement in San Diego as a volunteer. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Alex and now lives with her children in San Diego.
